Springfield remembers the Illinois tornadoes of 2006

Parishioners Reggie Britton, left, and Randel Britton survey the remains of their church after a tornado destroyed it on March 12, 2006.

One thing “troubled” Bishop Lowvell Ross about going again to his little church in the 2000 block of East Spruce Street for evening services on March 12, 2006.

Ross was at Pillar and Ground of the Fact Apostolic Church major the regular Sunday morning support with a handful of parishioners before that day.

When many others made the decision not to go to the church that evening, Ross also stayed driving at his home. On other instances, even if there wasn’t a Sunday service, Ross would make the brief push to the church by himself and pray.

“I imagine in listening to the voice of the Lord,” mentioned Ross just lately, standing in the front garden of his property. “A great deal of times when we do not pay out heed to the warnings, a ton of matters can occur to us.”
