Sandwich homes collapse from storm destruction, erosion all through winter storm

EAST SANDWICH — As significant waves battered Springhill Seashore on Tuesday, evidence of Monday night’s storm remained on Salt Marsh Road. A part of driveway fell on to the seaside below. A warped deck hung precariously, all set to tumble at any second.

The foundations of a few oceanfront residences from 112 to 116 Salt Marsh Highway ended up broken over and above maintenance. The house at 112 Salt Marsh Street, which was hardly standing Tuesday early morning, had fallen on to its side into the ocean by Tuesday evening. The foundation was ripped out of the floor, and the aspect with the deck was in the drinking water.

“It is really spectacular and [it wasn’t] even a large storm out there,” mentioned Joshua Wrigley, assistant director of Normal Sources for the town of Sandwich.
