The Villages Each day Sun’s slant on raising influence expenses on the Developer

David Bussone

It is disheartening to see the pre-emptive slant The Villages Day-to-day Sunshine has set on the possibility of boosting affect service fees on the Developer.

As we know, the Developer pays considerably less than 50 percent of the required effects service fees to build in Sumter County and relies on the latest 25 per cent tax maximize to spend for the infrastructure for new developing.

The past Sumter County Board of Commissioners agreed that the county must pay in excess of $40 million for roadways required by the Developer. They had to increase that $40 million from the taxpayers.

A raise of 150 p.c in impression costs for a dwelling supplied at $250,000 would be $1,458. That will not dissuade any customer from getting a home. What would dissuade a consumer is the understanding that his taxes pay for the Developer’s amplified profit.

The Everyday Sun also wrongly in comparison Sumter County’s street impression costs to Lake County’s. What they unsuccessful to mention is that other counties also have affect costs for universities, police, fire, EMS, parks and recreation. Sumter has none of that. Apples really should be in comparison to apples, not to oranges.

Explain to the county commissioners that Sumter County taxpayers should really not have to shell out for new infrastructure for new developments.
